Last week I hit a very important milestone in my rug making journey. I have officially made 100 full sized rugs. If you’ve seen my work in person or purchased a rug from me, you know I sign and number the back of each and every rug. My minis are numbered by design but my large rugs are numbered in the order they are made. I have yet to tally up the total number of mini fish but I estimate I’m getting close to 100 as well. Those small details may not be important to many folks but I find it an important part of my process. Thank you to everyone who has taken one of my creations home with them. Or even if you have just left encouraging comments. I appreciate you all! Here’s to 100 more. 🐟

I think 50% of people tell me they end up hanging them, which really surprised me when I heard that but I’m just happy I get to make fun home decor for you all 🩵

I was so inspired visiting a climate outside of Alaska! Florida was truly something else. If you know me, you know I love spending time in nature, animal watching and beach combing. I feel like a Florida fish/ animal rug drop may be in the future… let me know if there is something you want to see! I may look nonchalant but I spent hours digging for sharks teeth lol.

We met in the art scene many years ago and I knew a collab was inevitable! She allowed me to adapt her painting to a digital design so I could tuft them into one of a kind wall art. This is what happens when I finish a new design and one of the colors doesn’t hit quite like I thought it would! I spend hours creating fish designs on my iPad to try to match the vibe of the real fish and sometimes the colors I pick digitally don’t always translate to yarn. So I improvise! Here I’m slowly taking out an entire section of color I feel like didn’t look the way I wanted. It’s important you try to pull up only the fibers and don’t rip into the backing. I decided to go with a more vibrant green for the accent at the top and I love it! What do you guys think about the change? I’ll be posting a video of the trimming and shaving process here soon so you can see the finished product.

Today’s preorder is a grayling! I am getting so close to finishing the preorders from the state fair! (Yes, I’m STILL working through them). After that I have a couple customs and I will be free as a bird for a couple weeks to work on minis and my next collection. I may potentially open up preorders as well!

One of the best tips I got when starting rugs was to shave between the colors while on the frame. It makes the tufting process longer but the finishing process shorter. I have to be super careful I don’t cut the backing but it makes the finished product clean af.

The rockfish! I never added it to my website because they all sold immediately at the fair but I’m considering opening up rockfish preorders next year. I want to create new fish of course but I know not everyone got the of designs they wanted… I’m envisioning bigger and better fish for 2026! 🐟 🐠🐡🎣🍥🍣🐠
